ST. XAVIER'S OBSERVES RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS WITH SOLEMN TRIBUTE TO SARDAR PATEL

St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, observed the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, fondly remembered as the Iron Man of India, with a special programme organised by the school’s NCC cadets on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on 31 October 2026. The programme began with the gathering of the Rector, Fr. K.K. Joseph, Fr. K.A. Thomas, teachers, students and NCC cadets around the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the school campus. Master Kunal Jamatia, the School Captain, extended a warm welcome to everyone. Fr. K.K. Joseph, the Rector, addressed the gathering and highlighted the remarkable contributions of Sardar Patel, particularly his visionary leadership and historic role in uniting the princely states to build a strong and united India. The Rector, staff, students and NCC cadets then paid their floral tributes to the great national leader. Following the floral tribute, the NCC cadets conducted a special morning assembly dedicated to the life, ideals and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Ms. Athukiri Debbarma and Master Abel Sabath animated the assembly, while Ms. Rupa Jamatia led the gathering in prayer. Aoj Chakma delivered a brief introduction to Sardar Patel, highlighting his life, leadership and invaluable contribution to national integration. Other NCC cadets, namely Amrita Sagma, Aros Chakma, Ayush Chakma, Alfred Jamatia, Neha Jamatia and Athukiri Debbarma, shared significant facts and inspiring reflections on Patel’s life and achievements. A significant moment of the programme was the National Unity Pledge, administered by Sir Clinton Tripura, during which all the staff and students raised their right hands and solemnly pledged to uphold the unity, integrity and security of the nation. Sr. Kyrkhulang proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful organisation of the programme. The celebration concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. The programme was meaningful and inspiring, reminding everyone of the importance of unity, patriotism, mutual respect and collective responsibility in nation-building. The NCC cadets actively participated in and coordinated the programme under the guidance and collaboration of the NCC CTO, Sr. Clinton, Ms. Riya Debbarma and Ms. Priyanka Debbarma. The school gratefully appreciates the enthusiastic involvement of its NCC cadets, whose dedication and teamwork made the celebration a memorable tribute to the great patriot and national leader, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
