The much-awaited Don Bosco Knockout Football Tournament – Season 4 kicked off in grand style on 25 September 2026 at the Don Bosco Mini Stadium, bringing together 35 teams from different parts of Tripura. The tournament began with a solemn and colourful inaugural ceremony that celebrated not only the spirit of football but also friendship, teamwork, discipline and the talents of young people across the state. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Samir Debbarma, Sports Officer, Bishramganj, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Nandu Debbarma and Fr. Christopher were the distinguished Guests of Honour. The presence of Fr. Suman, Fr. Juel, Fr. Nicholas, Fr. Glorius, Fr. K.K. Joseph, Fr. Rihun, along with the sisters, teachers, brothers, parents and neighbours from Pathaliaghat village, added warmth and significance to the auspicious occasion. The ceremony began with a warm welcome from Fr. Babu Stephen, who greeted all the dignitaries, participating teams, players, officials and guests. A significant moment of the inaugural ceremony was the hoisting of the tournament flag by Mr. Samir Debbarma, officially marking the commencement of Season 4. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Samir Debbarma expressed his appreciation to the school management for taking the initiative to organize such a meaningful tournament for the young people of Tripura. Mr. Nandu Debbarma and Fr. Christopher also addressed the gathering, sharing words of encouragement and appreciation for the initiative and for the young footballers taking part in the tournament.The inaugural ceremony was beautifully anchored by Mr. Clement Guria and Mr. Ankan Bhowmik, who guided the programme with grace and enthusiasm. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Martha Debbarma. The formal inauguration was followed by the much-anticipated opening match between Don Bosco Thunder and Tulsiram Kami Jr. The match proved to be an exciting contest, with both teams displaying determination and fighting spirit. At the end of regular play, the two sides were locked at 1–1, taking the opening encounter to a penalty shootout.In the penalty shootout, Tulsiram Kami Jr. emerged victorious, scoring 7 goals, while Don Bosco Nabasardar Thunder could not match their tally. The matches are being officiated by referees from the Tripura Football Federation (TFF), whose professional efforts contributed to the smooth conduct of the opening fixture. The Don Bosco Knockout Football Tournament – Season 4 is more than a sporting competition. With 35 teams participating from across Tripura, it provides a valuable platform for young footballers to demonstrate their talent, develop teamwork and discipline, build friendships and learn from one another. The tournament is being coordinated by Mr. Animesh, together with the entire core committee team of teachers. As Season 4 begins, the Don Bosco Mini Stadium has once again become a meeting place for young football enthusiasts, families, educators and the wider community. The opening ceremony set a fitting tone for the days ahead—a celebration of football, friendship, learning, teamwork and the vibrant sporting spirit of Tripura.
