St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, witnessed a historic and memorable occasion on 25th August 2026 with the unveiling of fifteen statues of great national leaders, social reformers, visionaries and distinguished freedom fighters of India and Northeast India. The ceremony was held with great solemnity, patriotism and enthusiasm, adding a new dimension of beauty, inspiration and national pride to the school campus. The statues erected in the school campus are those of Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, U Tirot Sing Syiem, Bir Tikendrajit Singh, Moje Riba, Rani Gaidinliu and Rani Ropuiliani. These great personalities represent the ideals of service, peace, unity, leadership, education, courage, patriotism, freedom and sacrifice. The unveiling ceremony was graced by Mr. Subhash Dutta, TCS, Grade I, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Sepahijala District, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest. A number of priests and sisters, along with school teachers, students and parents, were present to witness this significant and meaningful occasion. The programme began with a solemn function, during which Fr. Babu Stephen warmly welcomed and accompanied the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests to the venue. The unveiling of the fifteen statues took place amidst an atmosphere of great joy, reverence and patriotism. Floral tributes were offered to each of the statues as a mark of respect and gratitude to these great personalities whose lives, sacrifices and contributions have enriched the history and heritage of our country. In his address, the Chief Guest, Mr. Subhash Dutta, expressed his happiness and appreciation for the initiative taken by St. Xavier’s School, Pathaliaghat. He thanked the management and congratulated the school for its commendable initiative in erecting the statues of great national leaders and freedom fighters of India, especially those representing the rich history and heroic struggles of Northeast India. He appreciated the school’s efforts to inspire students by keeping alive the memory, values and ideals of these great personalities. The beautifully erected statues have greatly enhanced the appearance of the school campus, making it look more attractive, colourful and inspiring. More importantly, they will serve as a living source of education and inspiration for generations of students, reminding them of the values of courage, sacrifice, unity, peace, leadership, service and love for the nation. The unveiling ceremony was indeed a proud and memorable day in the history of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat. The fifteen statues will stand as enduring symbols of India’s rich heritage and the remarkable contributions of its great leaders and freedom fighters, inspiring every student who walks through the school campus to dream, serve and contribute to the progress of the nation.
