St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, witnessed a significant milestone in its journey towards technology-enabled and skill-based education with the inauguration and blessing of its new Composite Skill Lab on 25th August 2026. The new facility is a valuable addition to the school’s educational infrastructure and reflects its commitment to providing students with modern learning opportunities and preparing them to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Shri Subhash Dutta, TCS Grade-I, Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Sepahijala District, as the Chief Guest. The occasion was also honoured by the presence of several Salesians and religious members, including Fr. Christopher of Bishramganj, Fr. Surjit of Agartala, Fr. Suman of Herma, Fr. Sunny and Fr. Joseph of Pitra, Fr. Glorious of Herma, Fr. Pravin of Gondachera, the Sisters from Udaipur and Pathaliaghat, Fr. Babu Stephen, Fr. K.K. Joseph, and Ms. Rosetta from Metabook XR. A good number of parents and members of the school community also attended the programme, adding warmth and significance to the celebration. The programme commenced with a prayer led by Maryeona, invoking God’s blessings upon the new facility, the students, teachers and the entire school community. This was followed by the Words of Welcome and Felicitation by Fr. Babu Stephen, who expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests and all those who had contributed to making the Composite Skill Lab a reality. The gathering was further enriched by addresses from Ms. Rosetta, Fr. K.K. Joseph and Fr. Christopher. They highlighted the importance of introducing modern technological facilities into schools and emphasized how such learning spaces can enhance students’ creativity, practical skills, curiosity and understanding. They encouraged the school community to make effective use of the facility so that students could move beyond conventional classroom learning and gain meaningful hands-on experiences. A solemn blessing of the new Composite Skill Lab was conducted by Fr. K.K. Joseph, invoking God’s grace upon the facility and all who would use it for learning and development. The first part of the inauguration was carried out by Fr. Christopher, Fr. Sunny, Fr. Suman, Fr. Surjit and Fr. Babu Stephen, who jointly cut the ribbon and formally opened the lab. The second and ceremonial part of the inauguration was performed by the Chief Guest, Shri Subhash Dutta, TCS Grade-I, ADM, Sepahijala District, marking the official commencement of the lab’s journey in the school. Addressing the gathering, Shri Subhash Dutta spoke appreciatively about the growing importance of technology-based education in the present era. He emphasized that education must equip young people not only with academic knowledge but also with practical skills, technological competence, creativity and the ability to adapt to new challenges. He expressed his appreciation for the school’s initiative in bringing such a modern and innovative facility into the curriculum. The Chief Guest was visibly impressed by the Composite Skill Lab and congratulated the school management and staff for their efforts towards providing students with quality, technology-oriented education. The inauguration was not merely the opening of a new room or facility; it symbolized the school’s vision of bridging classroom learning with practical, experiential and technology-based education. At the conclusion of the programme, Fr. Babu Stephen expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, the priests, sisters, guests, parents, teachers, students and all those who had supported the initiative. The significance of the occasion was further enhanced in the afternoon when Shri Animesh Debbarma, Minister for Forest, Government of Tripura, visited the school and took keen interest in the newly established facility. He appreciated the school’s initiative towards technology-based education and congratulated the school team for taking this progressive step in the field of education. The inauguration and blessing of the Composite Skill Lab was indeed a beautiful, meaningful and well-organized programme.
