St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, came alive with the vibrant colours, rhythmic beats, and rich cultural heritage of Tripura as the Inter-House Cultural Group Dance Competition was held on 20th July 2026 with great enthusiasm and splendour. The event provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their artistic talents while promoting appreciation for the indigenous cultural traditions of the state. The competition witnessed the enthusiastic participation of all the four houses—Bosco, Gandhi, Nehru, and Teresa. Each house presented a team of 28 dancers comprising both boys and girls, who captivated the audience with their synchronized movements, graceful expressions, and energetic performances. The four teams presented four distinctive traditional dances of Tripura—Murasing, Garia, Lebang, and Mamita—each beautifully depicting the customs, lifestyle, and festive spirit of the tribal communities. The colourful traditional costumes, authentic ornaments, melodious folk music, and well-coordinated choreography transformed the school campus into a vibrant cultural arena. Every performance reflected months of dedicated practice, teamwork, and artistic excellence, keeping the audience spellbound throughout the competition. The performances were evaluated by a distinguished panel of five judges comprising Ms. Martha, Ms. Namita, Ms. Debika, Ms. Roseline, and Ms. Riya, who assessed the teams under four criteria: choreography and synchronization, costume and presentation, expression and cultural authenticity, and overall performance. The programme was gracefully compered by Ms. Maryeona Debbarma of Class XI, whose confident and engaging anchoring added charm and continuity to the event. Before the commencement of the competition, Rev. Fr. Babu Stephen, Principal, addressed the gathering. In his inspiring message, he appreciated the hard work and commitment of the students, congratulated all the participating teams and their house captains, and expressed his gratitude to the teachers for their dedicated guidance in preparing the students. He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of our nation through such meaningful activities. At the conclusion of the competition, the Principal extended his heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed judges for sparing their valuable time and rendering their impartial judgement. He also congratulated Ms. Maryeona Debbarma for her excellent compering and thanked everyone whose dedicated efforts made the programme a memorable success. The competition witnessed remarkable performances from all the houses. Nehru House emerged as the Champion, securing the First Prize with their outstanding presentation of the Murasing Dance. Bosco House won the Second Prize for their lively Garia Dance, while Teresa House secured the Third Prize with their graceful Lebang Dance. Gandhi House presented the Mamita Dance and finished in the fourth position. The winning teams were felicitated with cash prizes in recognition of their exceptional performances. The Inter-House Cultural Group Dance Competition was a grand success, celebrating unity in diversity, teamwork, discipline, and the rich cultural traditions of Tripura. It was indeed an unforgettable display of talent, creativity, and cultural pride.
