An Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse, Tobacco and Cyber Crime was organized at St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat on 22nd May 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the school assembly hall for the students of Classes VI to XII. The programme was conducted by Shri Jayanta Dubey with the aim of creating awareness among students regarding the growing dangers of substance abuse and cyber-related crimes. Around 550 students along with the staff members attended the informative session. The programme began with a warm and hearty welcome extended to the resource person by Fr. Babu Stephen, who honoured him with the school scarf and the traditional Tripuri Risa as a mark of respect and appreciation. The students welcomed the guest with a round of loud applause, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere in the hall. Fr. Babu Stephen also gave a brief introduction to the programme and highlighted the importance of awareness and vigilance among the youth in today’s society. He exhorted the students and staff to make good use of the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge on important social issues such as drug abuse, tobacco addiction, and cyber crime. During the session, Shri Jayanta Dubey spoke in detail about the harmful effects of drug abuse and tobacco consumption on physical health, mental well-being, family life, and society. He also sensitized the students on the dangers of cyber crime, online fraud, cyber bullying, misuse of social media, and the importance of responsible digital behaviour. The resource person conducted the session effectively through a PowerPoint presentation, making the programme engaging and easy to understand. He interacted actively with the students, answered their questions, and encouraged them to stay disciplined, responsible, and alert in their daily lives. The programme proved to be highly enriching and informative for both students and staff. It helped the participants to become more aware of the social and digital challenges faced by young people today and inspired them to make wise and responsible choices. At the end of the programme, Fr. Babu Stephen expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Shri Jayanta Dubey and his team for conducting such a meaningful and enlightening session for the school community. The programme concluded successfully with renewed awareness and enthusiasm among the participants.
