The Provincial Visitation of Rev. Fr. John Zosiama SDB, the Salesian Provincial of Shillong Province, took place at St. Xavier’s School Pathaliaghat from 15th to 17th November 2025. He arrived on 15th November at 7:00 pm and was given a warm and hearty welcome by the hostellers, who honoured him with a risa, a bouquet of flowers, and welcome songs, creating an atmosphere of joy and reverence. On 16th November, Sunday, Fr. John celebrated the Holy Eucharist with the community, marking the beginning of a spiritually enriching day. After the Mass, he began meeting the Fathers and Brothers individually, offering personal guidance and encouragement. He spent considerable time going through the various reports and documents of the institution, including meeting minutes, chronicles, statistical data, financial records, construction updates, school annual programmes, and other relevant documents. His keen observations and deep interest reflected his commitment to the growth and well-being of the institution. On the morning of 17th November, the school community accorded him a warm reception during a brief welcome gathering in the assembly hall. Students presented beautiful dances and a heartfelt welcome address. On behalf of the school, Fr. Babu Stephen officially welcomed the Provincial. The school community expressed their respect by presenting him with a bouquet of flowers, a risa, and a traditional handwoven jacket. In his address, Fr. John thanked everyone for the warm welcome and hospitality and expressed his appreciation for the discipline of the students and staff as well as the vibrant atmosphere of the school. Following the school programme, the staff met him in the Principal’s office, where he shared news, encouraged them, and appreciated their hard work and dedication. He congratulated them for the discipline they maintain and the admirable manner in which they carry out their responsibilities. He applauded their committed service and prayed for their well-being. In the afternoon, Fr. John graced the Grand Finale of the Don Bosco Knockout Football Tournament (Season 3) as the Chief Guest. He addressed the players, conveyed his best wishes, and kicked off the match to mark the beginning of the finale. He later distributed the prizes to the champions and runners-up, expressing his happiness over the successful conduct of the entire tournament. He commended the organizers for their professionalism and dedication in arranging such a well-executed event. Later that evening, Fr. Provincial held the concluding conference with the community. He expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the marvellous works being carried out in Pathaliaghat and thanked the community for maintaining the records meticulously. He offered valuable guidelines and recommendations for the continued growth and betterment of the institution. The visitation ended with a solemn dinner attended by the community members and the Sisters of Pathaliaghat, marking a moment of fellowship and gratitude. Early on 18th November, Fr. John departed for Don Bosco Mandwi to continue his visitation. The visitation of Rev. Fr. John Zosiama SDB was a fruitful and enriching experience for everyone at St. Xavier’s School Pathaliaghat. His presence brought blessings, encouragement, and renewed enthusiasm to continue the mission with greater dedication and unity.
