FIRST OPEN TABLE-TENNIS COMPETITION 2025

St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, marked a new milestone by organizing the First Ever Open Table Tennis Competition for Boys on 21st October 2025 in the school assembly hall. A total of 11 participants took part in this exciting event, showcasing their skill, speed, and sportsmanship. The event was graced by Fr. Suman Kumar Kiro SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Herma, as the Chief Guest, and Sr. Rihun Sten FMA, Superior of Auxilium Convent, Pathaliaghat, as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Fr. K.K. Joseph, teachers, and students of the school. The program began with a warm welcome address by Fr. Babu Stephen, Principal of St. Xavier’s School, who expressed his joy and appreciation for the participants and audience. He highlighted that this first-ever table tennis competition was organized to ignite interest and enthusiasm for the sport among students and the youth. The competition began at 11:30 am. and concluded at 2:00 p.m. under the expert refereeing of Mr. Jehova Kaipeng and Mr. Dinesh Debbarma, while Ms. Priyanka and Mr. Sailen coordinated the event smoothly. Each match was played in the best of three format with 11 points per game. The tournament reached its climax with a thrilling final match between Subrai Rupini and Christopher Munda. The audience was kept in suspense and excitement throughout the game, cheering loudly for both players. After an intense and skillful contest, Mr. Subrai Rupini emerged as the Champion, winning three out of five matches, while Mr. Christopher Munda secured the Runner-up position. The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, who awarded the Champion with a trophy, medal, and a cash prize of ₹10,000, and the Runner-up with a trophy, medal, and a cash prize of ₹5,000. The audience applauded the winners for their outstanding performance and sportsmanship. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Priyanka Debbarma, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. Special appreciation was extended to the School Discipline Committee for maintaining discipline and ensuring the smooth conduct of the competition. The day concluded with a sense of joy, excitement, and inspiration, leaving everyone motivated to promote and participate in sports activities, particularly table tennis, in the days to come.
