SCOUT MASTERS AND GUIDE CAPTAINS TRAINING AT PATHALIAGHAT

A Scout Training Camp for teachers was organized at St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School Pathaliaghat from 8th to 13th February 2026. The intensive training programme was conducted by Rev. Fr. D. John Jayakumar, SDB, who generously offered his expertise and guidance to strengthen the scout movement in the institution. Six selected teachers—Ms. Martha, Ms. Tulsi, Ms. Risha, Sir Dinesh, Br. Purnajoy, and Br. Savio (three ladies and three gents)—underwent this comprehensive training. The sessions were held on the school premises from morning till evening for five full days, ensuring thorough exposure to both theoretical and practical aspects of scouting. Fr. John was accorded a warm and heartfelt welcome during the morning assembly on the inaugural day. In his introductory address, he highlighted the importance of scouting in shaping discipline, leadership, teamwork, and service-mindedness among young people. The training began with the fundamentals of scouting, including its history, principles, motto, law, and promise. Over the five days, participants were actively engaged in various sessions covering camp discipline and rules, scout songs, knots and lashings, flag hoisting ceremonies, patrol system, team bonding exercises, and patrol competitions. Practical demonstrations and hands-on activities formed a major part of the programme, enabling the teachers to gain confidence and clarity in conducting scout activities independently. The camp progressed smoothly and successfully, with active participation and enthusiasm from all the trainees. It proved to be an enriching and beneficial learning experience for the teachers, equipping them with the necessary skills to guide and mentor students in scouting. The trained teachers have been entrusted with the responsibility of motivating interested students and revitalizing the Scouts and Guides movement in the school. The institution places on record its deep appreciation and gratitude for the generous and dedicated service rendered by Fr. John in imparting this valuable training in scouting and other co-curricular dimensions. The programme concluded on a positive note, leaving the participants inspired and determined to take forward the scout movement in the school with renewed zeal and commitment. The school extends its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of this training programme.
